"JCL - After having Hooker sidepipes with glasspack mufflers for over 3 and a half years, I was not very pleased with the performance or the sound of them. I came across the Spiral Turbo Baffles on corvetteforum.com and decided to check out their web site. The baffles received excellent reviews from people using them, so I decided I would try them after several emails back and forth with Jim (JCL). I installed a 383 into my 1981 Corvette that was previously in a '67 Corvette owned by a friend, when I started the car I knew I made a good choice putting the baffles in. The sound is absolutely incredible, the car finally sounds like it has sidepipes and draws a crowd wherever I go. Even the previous owner of the motor commented how much nicer they sound then with his factory sidepipes, and when he drove the car he also commented that the motor even performed better. STS baffles are a far superior product to any of the mufflers you can use in Hooker Sidepipes, Buy them you won't be disappointed!"

"I have a 71 BB vert and yes headers make a diff. they are hooker 4 to 1 and side pipes. the inside stays cooler, the floor does not get anywhere near as hot. I bought a set of spiral inserts from a forum member and the fit and finish was great. you can feel the diff in the seat of the pants. a lot of times you can make a mod like a K&N air filter that makes more hp but you can't feel it with headers and the right inserts you can deff tell." "Unbelievable. What a difference. The car literally "woke" up. When I saw the mufflers that came out of the car I was shocked. They were basically a 1 and 1/4 inch pipe that was wrapped by a bigger diameter pipe that was sealed and very restrictive. The money was well worth it. My mechanic said that if he could get a gain like that for the 650 I paid by time everything was converted to Canadian money, he would out those on every car. Great job in the design of the baffles."

"You get a resounding YES from me. I ran the hooker glasspacks in mine for about 4 years, the older they get the worse they sound, and that only takes less then a year to happen. The hooker mufflers will rust to the inside of your tubes and they are a royal PITA to get out when that happens. The baffles have 2 small mounting tabs that make contact with the inside of the tubes, the fit on mine was almost snug and when it comes time to change to change them I have no doubt it will be 100 times easier. I've only had my 81 back on the road for just over a week and everyone comments on how cool it sounds now, most of them heard it before. I took an older guy for a ride today, all he could do was grin from ear to ear and tell me how much fun he was having, especially when we went sideways. :-)

As for burning yourself, I haven't done it yet, you just have to pay attention that's all, and remember to warn your passengers. Buy the baffles, don't waste a dime on crummy mufflers"
